Whats up My beauties, BeeBees here and today is awesome.
Today i will be reviewing episode 2 of the Witcher.
Spoilers
It starts with Yennifer sitting in a dark room as geralt opens the door. We see the camera pull back to reveal that she pregnant with a baby. Next it time skips and flashes forward to reveal yennifer resting with the baby sleeping in the crib. Yennifer wakes up as the crib catches fire and the sound of wailing. Don’t worry nothing happens. Next we get flashes as its revealed that a red clothed figure is holding the baby. We get a look at the baby to see it with pointy ears, and bright blue eyes.
Then yennifer wakes up and says fuck….. again. She wakes up covered in dirk with cuts and scrapes on her face. She looks around and realises shes tied up and on some kind of wagon that’s moving. She looks out through one of the cracks in the cart and shes a women riding a horse. Looking around the cart we see Fringilla sleeping and shes having a nightmare. As yennifer wakes her up she flinches and rushes to look out the crack in the wagon. As fringilla says fuck…..I know i swear a lot but even i’m like, this is getting over played. As fringilla says fuck the cart comes a start and the doors open to reveal the ex-king elf. I didn't like how they made this character look. When i saw his face reveal later i thought this actor looked like a drunk. I mean, you’d expect the elves to look a little descent.
From here they are taken on a short stroll where we see this ancient elf temple. It was said most were burned to keep it away from the humans. I think this would have been better told through a flash back or something. Then we’re taken into a tent were we meet the New Elf Queen.
Francesca
Dude holy shit. :) when i was looking up the actress for this review. i got so confused because i was looking at her imdb page and when i saw her photo for the first time . First off, good job to the make up department. She literally looks like two different people.
Anyway from here we learn that Francesca has been receiving visions of the white clothed figure. Do to this, she was promoted to lead the elves.
From here it switches to geralt and Ciri on horseback walking through the mountains. It looked nice, but now that i know it should have taken the whores a lot longer to get there. It kind of seems pointless looking back.
So from here Geralt and Ciri tie up roach to the horse pose and enter the dining hall. In here we’re introduced to a few other witchers and we meet…….
Vesemir.
I liked this character. I liked the look and feel of the of his character through ut the show. I didn’t like some of his lines but overall i would geralt is my favourite but vesemir comes in at number 2.
Next were introduced to Eskel.
When he first appears on scene i didn’t think much of him i just thought the way he died was stupid. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who felt this because a lot of the fans hated this also. From here we jump to the title sequence.
After making some jokes the guys turn in for the night. Ciri is walking around the rooms looking for a descent one to sleep in, however they either are missing parts of the wall letting in massive snow and the cold air. Or they have rats running around.
I will say i do like the feel of this castle. It definitely gives off the impression that geralt and the Witchers grown up here. It has the harsh and brutal vibe to it.
Next we switch back to Yennifer back with the elves. I’m starting to notice, for a secondary character we see her more in the show then the actual main protagonist. Anyway so yennifer and fringilla are tied up and captured. then yennifer reveals that she has been having dreams of a figure in red, she overheard that the elf-queen has been seeing a white figure and that fringilla has been seeing a black figure in there dreams.
Switching back, Geralt and Cirir are having a small chat as geralt examines the leshy’s hand. I liked the bugs crawling around, i don’t know why but i thought the scene was cool.
So from here geralt hears a noise coming from the dining hall and goes to check it out as he tells ciri to wait here. Upon entering we see whores dancing on a table. Now i love whores as much as the next person, however i feel like there only here to have tits on the scene. I can’t think of one reason to have them on the scene. Now i wasn’t expecting much from this. I’m just saying that the lead whore could have done some palm reading or perhaps some tarot card reading or something. Except we got nothing.
So apparently Eskel brought some random friends over to have some relaxation. To unwind after killing the leshy. So he rides down the mountain pass, Through the forest from the first episode and passed the now abandoned town. You know the friendly neighborhood brothel just right around the corner from this far out castle.
So the whores are dancing on the table, and the witchers are getting a bit drunk trying to unwind. Watching it back for this review. I noticed the only responsible person throughout the show it geralt. So geralt is walking around trying to get the whores out and Vesemir is acting like a child. Geralt wlks up to him and hes like meh like the boys are having fun. I can’t help but think your suppose to be teaching these people and being the leader. but hes like yeah bring whores in and get drunk. Anyway Eskel had one to many and throws a swipe at geralt. Geralt who is clearly the mature one catches eskels arm and ask him to go back to his room and clear his thoughts.
So eskel being drunk decides to bring one of the whores back with him and make things interesting.
Switching back to yennifer. She and fringilla follow an elf soldier through the ancient elf temple where we see ancient elf runes on the walls of a corridor. I liked the design of these, however i feel if it was an animated flashback it would have been great.
From here the girls meet up and start revealing their dreams to each other. Out of nowhere yennifer walks up to this really ancient elf statue. I’m not joking with no cue or prompt or anything, yennifer walk up to the statue and brushes some dried leaves aside. Revealing some old elf runes. How did she know how to do this. how did she even know that was there.
So the girls are talking about something random. Actually it shows a poem of a witch in the woods. Her hut is on chicke legs and has no door. However nobody said anything, nobody did anything. But out of no where the temple starts to shake and the statue starts to move opening stairs.
I’m thinking, how did they open the stairs?
So f then it switches back to actual fun part of the story. We see Ciri walking through the amour when she bumps into Vesemir. We get a quick story of Vesemir and him being worried about who he has to watch. It then flashes to Eskel with the lovely whore. She takes off his shirt around his shoulder to show us some kind of infection/wound. If you have ever thrown a stone into a pond. It looks like the ripples with branch starting to from it.
Going back to the girls. Their walking through a dark forest when a hut hidden in the shadows appears. I liked the animation of the wind blowing and the light slowly revealing the hut. I thought that was cool :)
Ok so i’m confused. Back in the temple Fringilla said she remembers a poem her dad told her. However in the dark forest the elf queen repeats the poem and gets the hut to turn around. So why did you have fringilla say she know it. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the elf say her line. Ant don’t forget. Nobody actually said anything in the temple. Fringille just said she remembers a poem her dad said. Nobody actually said any poem. Not Yennifer, Not Fringilla and not Francasca.
Anyway it switches back to the witchers and we finally get some action with twenty-three minutes left of boring setup. Finally when the witchers and when the whores have had there fill of beer and mayonize. The action begins to pick up. The whores are pushed into Ciri’s room as the ginger witcher is gaurding the door. Literally for about Thirty seconds until they run, And i can’t help but think.
What the hell were they even there for?
Yeah i get you want to have panic and fear, but they were there for literally thirty seconds. they showed some tits. One died. Then they ran. I wasn’t expecting much from this but they served no purpose. This is what i’m saying i think they were there just to show on scene and say they did it. I get the feeling like the writer didn’t want to put them on scene, but that they had to put them on scene. I only made it four episodes in but they only had tits on scene twice.
Once with the monster in the first episode and now here.
Anyway it switches back to the girls in the cabin with the witch. I don’t like the look of the old witch. First off, she doesn’t look evil. She looks like the type of lady that would nite me a sweater. She looks like she pinches cheeks and bakes cookies. She doesn’t look or feel evil. The evil witch for the most current hellboy looked eviler.
So then we finally to the cool part where Vesemir and geralt fight eskel. First off i liked when both geralt and the camera twirled over the table. I thought that was cool. I liked the idea of the creature. I thought it should’ve been stretched out over a couple of episodes. Instead in was ended rather quickly. I thought when Vesemir showed and started thowing the hooks. That looked cool. And i liked when geralt started heating the sword and shoved it into his chest. That was cool.
That aside it was kinda disappointing.
And I still can’t figure out how they moved the shrine and went down the stairs.
Anyway Come back next Monday for Episode Three review.
